Event Details

Explore the development of trading networks between Native American Tribes indigenous to the Pacific Northwest coast in this exhibit developed in partnership with the JayHawk Institute. The unique trade language “Chinook” facilitated movement of goods between tribes and then adapted to ease communication with European traders. Until, eventually, trade with the new-comers fundamentally changed both the original trading practices of Native American Tribes and effected cultural practices and goals.
