Event Details

Always, Sometimes, Never brings the work of New York-based conceptual artist Tavares Strachan to Seattle for the first time. Born and raised in the Bahamas, Strachan utilizes a diverse and eccentric range of mediums to investigate the domains of science, technology and history. He is especially, often obsessively, interested in the unseen, unknown, or sometimes deliberately concealed stories behind what we consider to be common cultural narratives. Composed of sculptures, collages, and neon works installed within and alongside a set of reflecting pools, Always, Sometimes, Never illustrates one of Strachan’s defining strategies: he uses the traditional materials of transparency—glass, light, and water—to explore the nature of invisibility and the conditions that obscure access to information, history, and truth.
