more

Event Details

Celebrated sculptor Albert Paley is best known for his metal sculptures, however he has incorporated glass in many commissions and exhibition works for over a decade. Twenty nine of these sculptures are currently on display at Museum of Glass and they demonstrate his commitment to innovation and a synthesis of many of the key elements that distinguish his body of work. Though glass and steel share similar properties under intense heat, it is the complementary characteristics of the final forms that appeal to Paley. “My work deals with a lot of contrast. Glass pairs beautifully with steel because it creates a dialogue of opposites. The contour, clarity, and color of glass—metal responds to that.”
